Our 2024 recap is here.

We did it, members!
We’ve reached the end of 2024 — and what an incredible year it’s been for the Ohio Writers’ Association!
This year, we achieved some amazing milestones: hosting our very first Writers’ Conference, running a thought-provoking anthology contest, welcoming fresh leadership, and launching our official Instagram account. Let’s look back at some highlights:
Writers’ Conference — May 4, 2024
On May 4th, 80 OWA members gathered at the Fawcett Center at OSU for a day packed with learning, networking, and inspiration. Highlights included:
An unforgettable keynote by acclaimed author Danika Bloom (plus some fun unicorn squeezing!).
Insights from Columbus crime writer Andrew Welsh-Higgins.
A dive into the world of book-to-film adaptations with Danielle D. Smith.
A lively A.I. writing panel led by literary attorney Jacqui Lipton.
We also celebrated member short stories and made meaningful connections with Ohio’s writing community. Missed the event? Check out the highlights on our YouTube channel!
Yearly Anthology — Should This Book Be Banned?
This year’s anthology explores diverse and impactful perspectives, featuring stories of heartbreak, hope, love, loss, and resilience. Our members submitted exceptional work, making the selection process as inspiring as it was challenging.
To everyone who participated: thank you! We can’t wait to share updates on this remarkable collection.
